January 16

The City of Coral Gables wants you to catch a Flick on the Field. Instead of heading to the movie theater on Friday, bring the family to the field at the Coral Gables War Memorial Youth Center, 405 University Drive. The Parks and Recreation Department will be showing the Bee Movie. This is a free event. The concessions stand will be open for people to purchase items such as hot dogs, pizza and popcorn. The movie starts at 7 p.m. Don't forget to bring seats and blankets.

January 16

Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden is hosting an event just for the ladies. Mothers and daughters are invited to attend in Afternoon Tea at Fairchild. The special tea party will be held on the veranda and in the ballroom at the Visitor Center starting at 3 p.m. There will be live music and beautifully set tables for guests to enjoy. Tickets cost $27 for garden members, $37 for non-members and $17 for children 12 and under. Through January 25

Watch the award winning play Adding Machine at GableStage at the Biltmore. The southeastern premiere of this musical is a story about a man who after 25 years of service to his company is replaced by a mechanical adding machine. The Adding Machine was written in 1923 by Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Elmer Rice. Catch this production Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Ticket prices range from $40 - $45. January 14 – February 8

The Actors’ Playhouse at Miracle Theatre will open the curtains on the world premiere of Bombshells. This production is based on the true story of the Miami Bombshells, a circle of six imperfect women who grew from stressed out strangers to lifelong friends. Performances will be held Wednesdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Ticket prices range from $15 to $48. The Actors’ Playhouse is located at 280 Miracle Mile. January 16

The City’s golden residents are invited to the ‘Best Show on Earth.’ The Coral Gables Adult Activity Center is taking a trip to the American Airlines Arena to catch the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. The show will feature whimsical performances, flying dogs, skipping elephants and tigers. A bus will depart from the senior center, 624 Anastasia Avenue, at 9:30 a.m. The deadline to purchase tickets is January 13. Tickets cost $20 per person which includes round trip transportation and admission. For more information, call 305-460-5609.

January 13

Steven Chasens, a leading Acupuncture Physician in South Florida, will be giving a free lecture on Acupuncture: What It Is and How It Can Benefit You. The talk will take place at Whole Foods Market, 6701 Red Road, at 7 p.m. For more information, call 305-446-3009 or click here.   

January 12

Seniors are invited to the monthly Lunch and Lecture in which complimentary lunch is served and followed by a guest speaker. For January, Kelly Altosino-Sastre, Executive Director of Citizens for a Better South Florida, will be discussing the organization’s environmental awareness campaign. Lunch & Lecture is held at the Coral Gables Adult Activity Center, 624 Anastasia Avenue, at 11:30 a.m. Reservations are required for this free event. Please call Anastasia Smith at 305-460-5609.

Wednesdays

Join old friends and meet new ones during a pleasant, sociable lunch. Let's Do Lunch! is held every Wednesday at 12 noon at the Adult Activity Center at 624 Anastasia Avenue. Fee is $6 per person.
