Events Roundup Here is a partial list of upcoming cultural events in Coral Gables. March 20 The Parks and Recreation Department is offering a Parents Night Out. Leave your children at the War Memorial Youth Center where they will enjoy a sleep-over party with special activities. Guests will be given snacks and breakfast the next morning. Drop off your child at 7 p.m. and pick them up no later than 9 a.m. the next morning. The sleep-over is designed for children 5 – 14 years of age. Prices vary from $29 - $47. March 21 The City of Coral Gables and the Pinewood Cemetery Advisory Board present Pioneer Day, a celebration of the history of early pioneer families, many buried at Pinewood Cemetery. Join us from 10 a.m. to 12 noon for a tour of Pinewood Cemetery, the oldest burial ground in Miami-Dade County commonly used as such since 1897. Harriet Stiger Liles, author of Pinewood Cemetery, Coral Gables, Florida, a History with Pioneer Biographies, is the featured guest speaker. The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. Pinewood Cemetery is located on Erwin Road just south of Sunset Drive. Start the day at 8 a.m. with a Tai Chi class at Merrick Park across from City Hall. At 9 a.m. attend a Gardening Workshop on “Good Bugs, Bad Bugs” presented by Andres Mejides of Elfin Acres Organic Farm. Then participate in a culinary demonstration at 10 a.m. by The Grill Club Restaurant. Children have their own activity at 11 a.m. hosted by Books & Books where kids can take a picture with Beatrix Potter’s Peter Rabbit. March 26 The American Lung Association of Florida will be holding its 6th Annual Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida Coral Gables Wine & Food Festival presented by Republic National Distributing Company. The festival takes place in the City’s famed restaurant row located on 100 block of Giralda Avenue. March 28 The Easter Seal of South Florida wants you to walk for people with disabilities. This year, the Easter Seal Walk With Me 5K Walk will take place at Fred B. March 28 If you haven’t been to the Farmers Market, this will be your last chance. The grand finale of the Farmers market for the season includes a Chefs’ Picnic hosted by American Institute of Wine & Food from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. South Florida's finest chefs will team up with purveyors of fine produce and foods to offer delicious samplings at a modest charge. April 2 – May 28 For those who feel stuck on their creative path, or just want to pursue new creative endeavors, this workshop will lead you through a comprehensive program devoted to stirring creativity and developing imagination. The Artist's Way Workshop by best selling author Julia Cameron will take place at Paper Emporium, 231 Aragon Avenue, Thursdays from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The cost of the eight-week course is $125.
