Summer Playtime Is Perfect At Sunrise Harbor Park Summer is the perfect time to play at your neighborhood park – and at Sunrise Harbor Park your children are sure to enjoy the recent facility upgrades. The City of Coral Gables has completed a renovation project for Sunrise Harbor Park, located at 25 Sunrise Avenue between Sunrise Avenue and Douglas Road. Park visitors can shoot some hoops at a new basketball court, try out the two new shaded playgrounds with safety flooring, or relax at any of the new park benches. The renovations also included the restriping of the parking area in front of the park, and the relocation of the existing low hanging overhead power lines crossing the park. The total cost of the project is $290,000 with funding provided by Miami-Dade County’s General Obligation Bond ($145,000) and the Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program ($145,000). The park is currently open to the public.

In Emergencies, If you live or work in a building that
requires a special entry access code, it is important that you share this information with emergency personnel
to not delay their access. For your own safety, the City of Coral Gables would like to work with residential and commercial
property owners to receive the special access code and other information which will allow police and fire emergency personnel
to enter apartments or office buildings without delay. This information will be used confidentially to create a “premise alert”
that will automatically inform first responders of the necessary entry code when handling an emergency call to homes or businesses.
In any emergency situation, every second counts and it could mean the difference between life and death. In order to provide
or update this important information, please contact the Police Department Communications Coordinator Vivian Gonzalez at vgonzalez@coralgables.com or
at 305-442-1600.
Your Opinion Counts: The Police Department is currently undergoing the renewal of accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). This accreditation ensures that the Police Department remains in compliance with the high standards set forth by CALEA in all areas of policy and procedure. In order to assist in this process, the City of Coral Gables is asking you to participate in a short 12-question online or phone survey. Please take a few minutes to respond to the survey by July 15, 2010. To complete the survey by phone, contact the Police Department Community Affairs Office at 305-460-5491 and leave your name and number for someone to contact you.
